THE POPE KICKS OFF FOR PEACE
ISRAEL’S Yossi Benayoun will be among a galaxy of football stars past and present putting on their boots for a charity game in Rome on September 1.
“The Interreligious Match for Peace” has been organised by none other than the Pope.
Also billed to take part are Lionel Messi, Andrea Pirlo and Zinedine Zidane.
Proceeds will go to the rather delightfully named Pupi Foundation, founded by former Argentinian soccer player Javier “Pupi” Zanetti, who came up with the idea of a game to promote inter-religious unity.
