Max. I lost my beloved Max, my rock and partner for 55 years, on August 21, after many years of suffering. He will always remain in my heart; he is now at peace.— His loving wife Vera.

Lady Aline (née de Gunzbourg). Died on Monday, August 25 at home in London, aged 99. Mother of Michel Strauss, Peter and Philippe Halban, mother-inlaw of Sally, Martine and Rosane, grandmothe­r of Andrew, Julia, Emily, Alexander and Tania and great-grandmothe­r of Victoria, Elisabeth, Eloise, Aline and Elliot.

Sidney. A much loved father and grandfathe­r, who passed away aged 92 years after a long and bravely fought illness. Sadly our brave soldier has fought his last battle and our very special memories of him will remain in our hearts forever. He will now join his beloved wife Doris. Sorely missed by his daughter Suzanne, son-in-law Ashley, grandchild­ren Emma and Rob, Alex and Rachel and greatgrand­children Darcey, Florence, Amelie and Minnie.

Sidney. Our lovely dad and papa. How very blessed we are to have had him in our lives. He was our mentor and hero, guiding us through life. Never complainin­g with always a smile, even in his darkest hours. A soldier to the bitter end. Now reunited with our beautiful mum and grandma, “Dodis”. Always in our thoughts and hearts.— His loving daughter Beverley, son-in-law Paul, grandchild­ren Adam, Danielle, Amy, Matthew and great-grandson Casey; also sadly missed by Marie Velleman.
