The visitors showed their fighting qualities after falling behind to firsthalf goals from Jake Adshead and player manager Jonny Rose.

But the Yellows launched a stirring comebackafterMarcusJackson’sdouble and Sammy Dennison made it three out of three.

The midfielder netted a deserved late leveller to cancel out James Landes’ opener. It was no more than Haroldeans deserved as the champions were knocked off their perch.

Stand-in boss Fraser Saville, deputising for Jamie Harris, says the Yorkshiremen have been reminded they will not have it all their own way this season.

He said: “We probably deserved more than a draw for the way we played.

“We would have taken the result beforehand as Leeds are a strong team. I think they will go on to win the league again, but other teams will push them.

Jonny Franks was the hat-trick hero as Heaton Park Rovers won a nine-goal thriller against South Manchester Sports 3rds.

Keith Herman (2), Felix Shallom and Stephen Chester were on target for the hosts, but Franks had the final say with Joe Copland and Harry Roache also chipping in for David Seligman’s HPR side.
