What nonsense that the Charedi community does not care about other Jews. Geoffrey Alderman’s comment piece ( JC, Oct 30) is another example of his ignorance of the Anglo-Jewry about which he claims some expertise.

The Professor is clearly unaware of organisations such as Chabad, SEED, JLE and Aish, where individuals within spend hours of their time committed to enriching the lives of non-Orthodox Jews. How sad that Prof Alderman doesn’t know that the Jewish studies departments of Jewish day schools and cheders throughout the UK are staffed almost exclusively by Charedi Jews. What about the community’s Shochetim, Mohelim and Shomerim? Furthermore, Alderman states that the Charedi community has a drugs problem
