FOOT­BALL STU­ART Delmonte be­lieves his AFC Flix­ton side have re­dis­cov­ered their shoot­ing boots af­ter putting ri­vals South Manch­ester Sports 1st to the sword.

Adam Lavin’s first-half penalty put South in charge be­fore goals from Richard Walker, Michael Sacks, Yonni Green and Michael War­wick sealed the points in the Ac­coun­tants League.

Delmonte said: “We con­trolled the game but only reaped the re­wards af­ter chang­ing our for­ma­tion at half-time. That’s when we got the goals to go with our per­for­mance to keep up the pres- sure on Manch­ester Mac­cabi 1st.”

David Cohen was the penalty shootout hero as Manch­ester Mac­cabi 1st edged out Old Ball in the third round of the County Cup.

Olly Grant struck the win­ning penalty and man­ager An­thony Gell­man said: “It was a poor game but it’s all about get­ting through in cup com­pe­ti­tions. We held our nerve when it most mat­tered.”

MJSL cham­pi­ons Leeds Mac­cabi cruised past league lead­ers Manch­ester Mac­cabi Yel­lows 3-0 thanks to strikes from Rob Sel­wyn, Nick Vale and John Saffman.
