Newman, an Elite trampoline gymnast, was looking to complete his season unbeaten in all events. He qualified for the final of the 15-16 age group in third place and in second place in the senior Men’s Super League at the Copper Box Arena at the Olympic Park.

Newman and Luke Bennett, his synchronised partner, had already reached the final through their placing over the course of the season. They displayed great focus and fitness levels in a clean routine produced as the lowest-ranked team to win the Men’s Super League crown by a clear mark.
