Triple gold for Newman
TRAMPOLINING JOSHUA Newman endedtheseasoninstylewithtriplegold at the Trampoline League finals.
Newman, an Elite trampoline gymnast, was looking to complete his season unbeaten in all events. He qualified for the final of the 15-16 age group in third place and in second place in the senior Men’s Super League at the Copper Box Arena at the Olympic Park.
Newman and Luke Bennett, his synchronised partner, had already reached the final through their placing over the course of the season. They displayed great focus and fitness levels in a clean routine produced as the lowest-ranked team to win the Men’s Super League crown by a clear mark. That was followed by Josh winningthe15-16agegroupcompetition by3.180marksandthentheSeniorMen’s Super League event by a clear 1.870 mark, against more seasoned opponents.
Newman’s performance saw him finish the year unbeaten in all competitions and at all levels, both at individual and synchronised levels.
He hopes to move up to Men’s senior elite level next year and represent Great Britain at the European Championships in Spain. Newman said: “It’s has been a great season for me coming backfrominjury,betterthen I could have ever expected.
“I’m looking forward to 2016 as its Olympic year so I will be taking on some Rio hopefuls in my first season a year early as a senior.”
