COUPLE IN COURT OVER CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS
A JEWISH couple who want civil partnerships to be available for heterosexuals launched a legal challenge in the High Court this week. Academics Rebecca Steinfeld and Charles Keidan, from west London, argue that the Civil Partnership Act 2004 is “incompatible with equality law”. The pair, who have an eight-month-old baby, said the government was preventing them and thousands of other opposite-sex couples from choosing to form a civil partnership.
