AN INITIATIVE to get more “mature women” involved in volunteering has been launched to mark the 80th birthday of “professional volunteer” Ros Preston.

The Jewish Volunteering Network’s President’s Project — Mrs Preston is the JVN president — will encourage women to befriend and support the elderly and lonely.

Around 100 women attended a brunch in Mrs Preston’s honour at The Grove in Watford on Sunday.
