Pushy pair will be out to profit for Step by Step

-

HADASA MAYERFELD will be pushy in the nicest way when she helps wheelchair-bound Moishe Duvid Gluck complete the 5k course in aid of the Step by Step charity and the pair are hoping to top last year’s £3,000plus in sponsorship.

Ms Mayerfeld, 22, is a volunteer coordinator for Step by Step and has become great friends with Moishe, 15, who is severely disabled.

“The run is perfect to combine charity with an opportunity for him to have fun.”

She said that Moishe has been going to Step by Step, “which supports disabled kids and teens through afterschool sports and leisure activities, since he was little.

“We go hydrotherapy swimming weekly. It is therapeutically benefi- cial for him and lots of fun for both of us.

“Whenever possible, I go out to help him enjoy the most out of his life. We have been to many of the sights of London, including museums, cable cars and the London Eye to see the skyline.

“He also has a bike that is specially adapted to have a wheelchair attached.”

Although non-verbal, Moishe can communicate through facial expressions.

“Working with Step by Step has been the most incredible experience,” Ms Mayerfeld added.

“Knowing the unbelievable work that children and their families couldn’t live without is something that I am so proud to be a part of.”
