Leave the rat race — come to Edinburgh

-

I feel bound, personally, to advertise the merits of living a Jewish life north of the border. My husband and I moved to Edinburgh from London 35 years ago and have never looked back.

Housing is cheaper, life much less frantic (except during the Edinburgh Festival!), and we found a welcoming, warm Jewish community who have become our Scottish family. We are members of the Orthodox Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation (EHC). Both of us have served on the board of management and the community hall Committee.

Throughout the year, many events are held in our community centre. Our social calendar includes quizzes, annual Chanucah dinner, coffee mornings and film evenings; annual Edinburgh Festival Open Day; regular Jewish Literacy Society meetings and High Holyday celebrations.

Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It has a vibrant culture with very little crime and has easy access to the magnificent Highlands. It has everything that London offers but on a much more manageable scale. Come and see for yourself. Get out of the rat race and experience a wonderful Jewish life here.
