CRICKET LONDON Maccabi Vale have clinched promotion to Division Two of the Chess Valley League after a convincing victory at home to West Herts.

And a win against Chingford next week would clinch the Division Three title for Vale.

A seven-wicket triumph, led by Mark Landau’s magnificent unbeaten 105, enabled LMV to secure their sixth win in eight league games, powering the club to a remarkable fourth successive promotion.

From competing in the sixth tier not long ago, it is an achievement representing an unparalleled period of success in the club’s history.

His dismissal was the catalyst for LMV to reassert first won the British Milers Club women’s 800m event in Eltham in a new PB of 2:18.96. She followed this up by claiming the South of England U15 championship, recording 4:47.40 for a three-second winning margin in the 1500m.

Meanwhile her younger sister their grip on the game and the spin duo of Adam Brand and Adam Spooner bowled accurately and with guile to take four wickets between them.

Their efforts resulted in the visitors falling from 130-3 to 161 all out.

Vale’s strength throughout the campaign has been their batting, and this encounter proved no different.

Despit e t he e a r l y l o s s e s o f Greenwall-Cohen and Brand, a dominant century partnership between Landau and Spooner broke the backbone of the chase.

Landau was brutal on anything short and crashed a series of leg-side boundaries.

Meanwhile, Spooner was content to play the supporting role, occupying the crease and allaying any fears of a middle-order collapse.

There were almost 10 overs to spare when Landau hit the winning runs, an enormous six taking him to a welldeserved century and lifting LMV to the next division. Maayan, 12, returned to competition at the Bushey Park park run, clocking 20:27 for a 33 sec improvement on her previous best.

Eden Davis, 17, gained victories in the 100m and 200m and third place in the 400m in the Southern Athletics League at Bromley.
