Lionstoogoodand too clever for Brixton

- BYDANNYCARO

FOOTBALL SAM Marchant believes Maccabi London Lions B’s highpressing style can help them achieve great things this season.

Theo Azouz, Benji Weinberger, Michael Kenley and Dom Feldman were among the scorers as they finished the weekend on top of MGBSFL Division One on goal difference following a 5-1 victory over Brixton Old Boys.

“I felt like I was watching a different side to the one that came out last week,” said Marchant. “We had the right attitude and played the football that we love to. We didn’t let Brixton play and moved the ball swiftly and efficiently.”

Sam Rank reflected on “a memorable day for the club” as Redbridge B sent out a title warning with a 3-1 success over Oakwood B. Carl Dobrin, Daniel Bean and Richie Caplin were the marksmen, with Sam Modlin replying.

Jason Stein gave an honest assessment of his Oakwood team. “We were very poor,” he said. “Abject, out of ideas and below the required standard.”

Shai Davidi, Jamie Kent, Marc Charles and Craig Cole eased Faithfold A past Athletic Bilbaum.

Faithfold jointm a n a g e r R o b Shoomancommented: “Bilbaum did not stop trying, but we were just too strong.”

Svi Freedman, Avi Kestenbaum and Jamie Kutner guided Los Blancos to a 3-1 success over Hendon B.

RCUK FC registered seven goals for the second consecutive weekend, with Avi Markiewicz (4) the chief tormentor in a 7-0 drubbing of Faithfold B. Jonti Aremband (2) and Zalmy Cohen added the gloss. Markiewicz remarked: “We were fantastic yet again and controlled the game from start to finish.” Zack Rich, Jorden Sharifia and Brett Stead steered Temple Fortune to a 3-2 victory over North London Raiders C. Fortune boss Simon Linden commented: “We certainly made hard work of it but got the job done against a resilient Raiders team.” Liam Stein and Rob Samuelson replied for NLR and joint-manager David Domb said: “With further recruitment made this week, I can see a very swift upturn in luck for us.” Mill Hill Dons were celebrating their first win of the season after running out 4-2 victors over FC Team C courtesy of strikes from Ariel Tamman, Nick Phillips, Zach Cohen and Richard Hayim. Nicky Sugarman and Eddie Sternberg replied. Dons boss Brandon Hamme commented: “It was a very solid performance from the boys, resembling a Barcelona style of play. Ariel Tamman reminded me of a young Dani Alves.” A deadly double from Jason Shoffman plus one apiece from Jeff Gotch and Tal Cohen eased Catford & Bromley to a 4-1 success over Hertswood Vale. Jason Cohen salvaged a consolation for Vale. Catford boss Jeff Gotch said: “It was not a great performance but we were comfortable enough. The boys know they must improve in front of goal.” Oli Hambling and Jimmy Castle eased Redbridge C to a 2-0 win over Real Hendon. Avi Markiewicz
