FOOTBALL SCOTT McGarvery insists Manchester Maccabi’s tough start to the season has come as no surprise after they were edged out by RV Athletic.

Maccabi crashed to a 3-2 defeat in a bad-tempered Cheshire and Manchester League clash with RV Athletic.

Mark Bell and Sam Hatton were on the scoresheet in a game which saw seven yellow cards and two red cards.

It has proved a baptism of fire so far but the Accountants Premier League champions have no regrets at swapping divisions.

McGarvery said: “We knew it would be a step up and that’s how we have found it. But this will stand us in good stead as we are not used to losing.”
