WHAT DO Fred Flintstone, Mary Poppins and a rather grubby-looking Judy Garland have in common?

They all lit up the dancefloor on Saturday night, catapulting their twinkle-toed alter egos — Robert Rinder, Daisy Lowe and Lesley Joseph respectively — straight through to week four.

Last weekend was Movie Week, and our favourites proved they could hold as much poise in cinemascope as they do on the small screen.

First up was model Daisy Lowe, who alongside partner Aljaz Skorjanec opened the show with a quickstep to from Guess what? It came close to being practically perfect in every way. Head judge Len Goodman told Daisy she “pulled out all the stops”, commending her lovely hold, great posture and gorgeous movement. Next to flaunt her own spirited quickstep was actress Lesley Joseph, who, with partner Anton du Beke, performed to from The actress was in her element in the role, displaying her black-tooth grin Judy Garland with perfect comedic timing. Craig Revel-Horwood was momentarily optimistic, noting: “I hope, darling, that when I’m your age at 70, I can whirl around the dancefloor like that.” And proving that has a props budget, Judge Rinder soon hit the dancefloor in what appeared to be Joseph’s re-purposed wig. The criminal barrister and partner Oksana Platero became Fred and Wilma from the in a lively Charleston — which culminated in an expert handspring. A brave move for a man in a dress. Darcey Bussell was especially impressed, telling the TV judge: “You’re very cute as a caveman. You never fail to give us a fabulous performance.” a c t r e s s Tameka Empson did not fare so well, as she became the latest celebrity to be axed on Sunday night following a dance-off against TV presenter Laura Whitmore. But our three favourites live to dance another day.
