Huglin guides Leeds to second win

FOOTBALL PRESTFIELD saw their winless start extended to five games after Jayden Huglin fired Leeds Maccabi to victory.

Huglin bagged a double as the Yorkshirem­en — who were held by Presfield last week — breezed home 4-2.

Jonny Franks and Mark Broade were on target for Prestfield but the hosts had no answer to Huglin along with team-mates Adam Gilman and Theo Tobias.

Presfield boss Zac Marks said: “We have been chasing the elusive win. It will come. The performanc­es have been good. Once we get that one win we will kick on.” Maccabi Manchester Yellow

South Manchester Brooklands. Jamie Bowden, Ben Gould and Roy Fux were on target for the hosts with Joe Glaskie replying.

Reich Insurance White kicked off life with a crushing win over Reich Insurance Blue. The Blues had made an eye-catching start to the season but they were caught cold here. Simeon Goodman struck twice with Simi Hibbert and Matt Polden also netting.

Joint manager Michael Gaswirth said: “With so many players signed up creating another team was the only way we could get 48 players to play every week.

“That’s what we are all about. There’s no first or second teams. We are on the same level and we want the blues to win just like they want us to win.

“There was one winner here and from our point of view we couldn’t be happier. It was a competitiv­e game played in a good spirit as you would expect. There’s never been any issues between the two teams.”

Manchester Maccabi 1st returned to winning ways in the Cheshire and Manchester League. Scott McGarvey’s side are showing signs of finding their feet after a 4-0 win over Partington.

David Herman (2), Oli Grant and Mark Bell were on target. But there was disappoint­ment for the second team, who lost 4-3 against PWC.

Adam Lavin and Jack Lee fired South Manchester 1st to a 2-1 win over Park Villa.

South manager Neil Collins said: “It was a close game throughout, but you could tell we’d all been to synagogue earlier in the week — someone was looking down on us.”
