Cantor can help us hit high notes this season, says Kristall

- BYDANNYCARO

FOOTBALL DAN Kristall described two-goal hero Sam Cantor as the best player in the MGBSFL after he propelled Oakwood to third in the Premier Division and inflicted a first defeat of the season on Brady Maccabi.

With defenders Max Clynes and Ilan Scorah in dominant form, nullifying the threat of Brady top-scorer Reiss Mogilner, Oakwood responded to last week’s cup defeat at the hands of Camden Park with a purposeful performance.

Brady spurned a golden opportunity in the first minute and they were made to pay by the rampaging Cantor - the game’s star performer.

“When Sam plays like that he is unplayable,” said Kristall. “There is nobody in the division who can get close to matching him for ability.

“He was by far the best player on the pitch and deserved his two goals. His movement and the way he brings others into play gives us another dimension.

“This was a big result after last week’s cup disappointment. We needed this win to get our season moving again and we are now well placed in the league to challenge.”

Brady joint-manager Josh Dagul conceded Oakwood were “the better team”. He went on to say: “It was a great test for us to see where we are compared to one of the league heavyweights and I was pleased to see us compete.”

“We managed to keep them quiet for the majority of the game. Unfortunately, they were clinical when it mattered, scoring two of their very few chances.

“So there were plenty of positives and some lessons learnt to take forward into another tough challenge next week against FC Team.”
