Online betting company Betfair has Lara Pulver third favourite to succeed Peter Capaldi in the role and put the gal in Gallifrey as the first female regeneration of the Doctor.
Ms Pulver, 36 ( below) has appeared in the last TV series of Robin Hood and more recently in Sherlock as Irene Adler, the wily mistress of disguise, whom the great detective knows as “The Woman”. Her previous stage roles include Sarah Goldman in the American comedy Beau Jest, where she played a nice Jewish girl who pretends her boyfriend is Jewish.
