The Jewish Chronicle

Wrong numbers

- FOR THE RECORD JC,

I was surprised to read ( JC 27 Jan) that Heydrich’s list of European Jews to be targeted included 40,000 in Ireland, as the Irish Jewish population has never exceeded 5,000!

The correct figure on Heydrich’s list was 4,000 (Ref ‘Voices of the Holocaust’ 2012 P127 —among many others). Edward Baker, Leeds LS17 Numerical errors did indeed creep into the article on Heydrich. He targeted 330,000 English Jews and, as Mr Baker points out, 4,000 Irish. Ed. JC JC

In our report on the Board of Deputies plenary session ( 20 Jan) we incorrectly attributed a comment about Yachad to Michael Reik. Mr Reik’s name was misspelled as Rich, and he made no reference to Yachad. Apologies
