JULIAN Edelman, whose spectacular catch helped the New England Patriots to victory in the Superbowl on Sunday, is ranked by the American Jewish Historical Society as a the fourth top Jewish American football player of all time.

The wide receiver, who has a Jewish father, described himself in an interview five years ago as “kind of Jewish, but not really”.

But in 2015, when he made his first trip to Israel, he said he had begun exploring his heritage over the past few years.
