A new king of the council?
AROUND the watercoolers of Anglo-Jewry Inc there is growing expectation that Sir Mick Davis is preparing to step down from the helm of the Jewish Leadership Council. Chairman of the trustees since 2009, he became chairman also of its membership council two years ago — roles which will be combined at the next election in May.
One name in the frame as a possible successor is Jonathan Goldstein, who chairs the JLC’s education division Partnerships for Jewish Schools. But another Jonathan, Arkush, president of the Board of Deputies has ruled out any bid for the top seat at the council as well.
