Last year saw the birth of a new trend, and like most fashion editors, I too thought it was exactly that, a trend, which would just come and go like the rest of the crazy OTT styles of the catwalk. How wrong was I? Sleepwear is the new daywear, particularly if it’s made of silk or satin. Pyjama style separates, whether loose or tailored, take inspiration from the louche loungewear of the 20’s and Coco Chanel. Comfort, luxury and style intertwine to create a relaxed look that somehow, with the addition of a face of makeup, voluminous hair and a pair of heels, is now considered acceptable attire for waking hours.
