Goodman triumphs in Met League series

ATHLETICS RICHARD Goodman won the final race of the Met Cross Country League to secure overall top spot in the five-event competitio­n.

Goodman of Shaftesbur­y Barnet Harriers won the last race of the series by one second from Peter Huck, breaking the tape in 26:29

He was crowned champion despite missing one race, but by winning the other four he accumulate­d enough points to win the competitio­n.

Hannah Viner crossed the line in second place in the Women’s race in 20:42. There were a series of strong performanc­es from Jewish runners in other categories at Alexandra Park. Lauren Maltz of Shaftesbur­y Barnet Harriers finished in 26th position in the Boys’ and Girls’ under-11 race, while Sam Greenstein was fourth in the under-13 race in 13;14.

Roger Bruck, 79, won three medals at the Masters Southern Counties Championsh­ips.

He won two golds, leaping 3.15m in long jump and he equalled the Championsh­ip record with 1.20 in High Jump. Bruck also secured silver with a time of 35.97 in the 200m.
