Good­man tri­umphs in Met League se­ries

ATH­LET­ICS RICHARD Good­man won the fi­nal race of the Met Cross Coun­try League to se­cure over­all top spot in the five-event com­pe­ti­tion.

Good­man of Shaftes­bury Bar­net Har­ri­ers won the last race of the se­ries by one sec­ond from Peter Huck, break­ing the tape in 26:29

He was crowned cham­pion de­spite miss­ing one race, but by win­ning the other four he ac­cu­mu­lated enough points to win the com­pe­ti­tion.

Han­nah Viner crossed the line in sec­ond place in the Women’s race in 20:42. There were a se­ries of strong per­for­mances from Jewish run­ners in other cat­e­gories at Alexan­dra Park. Lau­ren Maltz of Shaftes­bury Bar­net Har­ri­ers fin­ished in 26th po­si­tion in the Boys’ and Girls’ un­der-11 race, while Sam Green­stein was fourth in the un­der-13 race in 13;14.

Roger Bruck, 79, won three medals at the Masters South­ern Coun­ties Cham­pi­onships.

He won two golds, leap­ing 3.15m in long jump and he equalled the Cham­pi­onship record with 1.20 in High Jump. Bruck also se­cured sil­ver with a time of 35.97 in the 200m.
