Goodman triumphs in Met League series
ATHLETICS RICHARD Goodman won the final race of the Met Cross Country League to secure overall top spot in the five-event competition.
Goodman of Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers won the last race of the series by one second from Peter Huck, breaking the tape in 26:29
He was crowned champion despite missing one race, but by winning the other four he accumulated enough points to win the competition.
Hannah Viner crossed the line in second place in the Women’s race in 20:42. There were a series of strong performances from Jewish runners in other categories at Alexandra Park. Lauren Maltz of Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers finished in 26th position in the Boys’ and Girls’ under-11 race, while Sam Greenstein was fourth in the under-13 race in 13;14.
Roger Bruck, 79, won three medals at the Masters Southern Counties Championships.
He won two golds, leaping 3.15m in long jump and he equalled the Championship record with 1.20 in High Jump. Bruck also secured silver with a time of 35.97 in the 200m.
