A TURNOUT of more than 150 is expected at the UK’s first Jewish/ Muslim women’s conference, “Challenging the Narrative”, being held at the University of Westminster on Sunday.
There will be prominent speakers from the worlds of politics, charity, academia, media and religion. Tackling antisemitism and Islamophobia and female empowerment are among discussion topics at the conference, being run by Nisa-Nashim, the national Jewish Muslim Women’s Network.
Laura Marks, co-founder of NisaNashim, said: “By bringing people together, we are showcasing the quality of our women, their interest in the key issues of our times and their ability and willingness to challenge the negative narrative.”
Added another co-founder, Julie Siddiqi, former executive director of the Islamic Society of Britain: “We can learn from each other and start to tackle serious community challenges. I’m looking forward to exploring this at the conference and beyond.”
