Scroll-y good

NEARLY 400 people accompanied Stanmore and Canons Park Synagogue’s first new sefer Torah for 25 years on a half-mile parade through local streets on Sunday.

The scroll was presented in honour of the second barmitzvah of shul life president Ronnie Metzger by his wife Sheila and family. The final 40 letters of the scroll were completed at the Metzgers’ home.

There was much impromptu singing and dancing as the scroll was ferried to the shul to the strains of a klezmer band.
