Schoolkids’ across the MGB board suc­cess brings pride

SPORT KEREM A re­tained the Mac­cabi GB In­ter Pri­mary Schools Chess tour­na­ment.

The Hamp­stead Gar­den Sub­urb school edged out run­ners-up Sacks Mo­rasha A in a com­pe­ti­tion fea­tur­ing 90 play­ers aged seven to 10 years.

Re­flect­ing on the nine-school event at Im­manuel Col­lege in Bushey, MGB’s School & Sports man­ager Alex Elf said: “Af­ter the suc­cess of the first tour­na­ment last year, we could see chess was be­com­ing in­creas­ingly pop­u­lar in the com­mu­nity.

“It’s great to see so many chil­dren stay ac­tive in mind and body to­gether.”

Kerem, Independent Jewish Day School and Wolf­son Hil­lel won sil­ver­ware at the MGB Schools Year 5 Net­ball tour­na­ment.

Nine­teen teams from 11 schools com­peted in the round-robin event. Kerem, Independent and Hil­lel came out on top of their re­spec­tive groups.

JCoSS, Im­manuel Col­lege and host team JFS were tri­umphant at the Sec­ondary Schools Net­ball tour­na­ment.

JFS A and JCoSS shared the Year 7 crown, Im­manuel se­cured the Year 8 title and JFS A came away with the Year 9 tro­phy.
