Schoolkids’ across the MGB board success brings pride

SPORT KEREM A retained the Maccabi GB Inter Primary Schools Chess tournament.

The Hampstead Garden Suburb school edged out runners-up Sacks Morasha A in a competitio­n featuring 90 players aged seven to 10 years.

Reflecting on the nine-school event at Immanuel College in Bushey, MGB’s School & Sports manager Alex Elf said: “After the success of the first tournament last year, we could see chess was becoming increasing­ly popular in the community.

“It’s great to see so many children stay active in mind and body together.”

Kerem, Independen­t Jewish Day School and Wolfson Hillel won silverware at the MGB Schools Year 5 Netball tournament.

Nineteen teams from 11 schools competed in the round-robin event. Kerem, Independen­t and Hillel came out on top of their respective groups.

JCoSS, Immanuel College and host team JFS were triumphant at the Secondary Schools Netball tournament.

JFS A and JCoSS shared the Year 7 crown, Immanuel secured the Year 8 title and JFS A came away with the Year 9 trophy.
