Oak with the hidden heart

-

TREE cheers please for the 650-year-old Polish oak, which has been voted European Tree of the Year for 2017.

Situated on the Mycielski family estate in the south-east of the country, Oak Josef served during the Second World War as a hideout for two Jewish brothers who escaped from a Nazi labour camp.

The competition is organised by the Environmental Partnership Association to promote the preservation of old trees.
