‘Evil’ abuser humiliated child victims

- BY JC REPORTER

AN ORTHODOX Jewish man who sexually abused children and beat them to ensure their silence has been jailed for 22 years.

David Glausiusz, 47, of Broughton Park, Salford was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court after being found guilty of multiple counts of rape and assault following a seven-week trial.

Glausiusz had abused children as young as seven. Jurors heard that he raped one of his victims, hit them with a piece of wood and stood on their stomach.

He also cut off a victim’s peyot, which Judge Martin Rudland described as a “despicable act to cause him maximum humiliation and distress”.

Glausiusz was convicted of three counts of rape of a child under the age of 13 and six counts of sexual assault against a child under the age of 13.

He was also found guilty of three counts of assault and three counts of child cruelty.

Judge Rudland said he will spend half of his sentence in prison, and the rest on licence. He must also sign the sex offenders register for life.

Compensation is set to be awarded to his victims at a further hearing.

Judge Rudland said: “Because of their youth and lack of understanding of sexual matters, all children had some difficulty describing what had happened to them.”

Police were first alerted in April 2014, when a referral was made to Salford Children’s Social Care raising concerns about a young boy. Other victims were subsequently identified.

Police said Glausiusz had convinced his victims that they would not be believed if they reported his crimes.

He had also tried to threaten them about potential repercussions in the Jewish community if they reported it.

Following the sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector Alan Clitherow of Greater Manchester Police, praised “the astounding bravery shown by those who suffered at the hands of Glausiusz has helped put a stop to his prolific and frankly evil actions.”
