Relative values inspire young welfare walker
PUPILS FROM schools including JFS and JCoSS completed Jewish Care’s 10k bnei mitzvah walk, raising almost £3,000. The route began and ended at Jewish Care resources with a stop on the way to visit residents at the Clore Manor Home in Hendon.
One participant, Jacob Hirshler, visited his great-grandfather Lou Peters, a resident at Rosetrees on the charity’s Betty and Asher Loftus campus, where the walk finished.
“Jewish Care looks after my papa, who has dementia, and is a charity that is important to me,” Jacob said. “I am aiming to raise as much money as possible to buy new equipment for papa’s care home.”
Another walker, Amos Shamai — a Fortismere student who recently celebrated his barmitzvah — said: “It was fun and challenging and I really enjoyed chatting along the way to friends.”
