Charitable girls take steps to help UJIA
AS PART of their UJIA-sponsored bat chayil course, Leeds girls have been taught the importance of charitable endeavour.
Taking this on board, 18 completed a six-mile walk to raise more than £2,000 for UJIA’s Ethiopian bar/ batmitzvah programme.
The event was organised by Leeds lawyer Marilyn Stowe.
UJIA’s Deborah Selwyn said Ethiopian families often struggled to adjust to life in Israel. “Work is hard to find, as is parental support for their child’s education.”
Through the bat chayil course, the Leeds girls have been actively supporting three Ethiopian girls.
