Wanted: 150 volunteers
MANCHESTER WELFARE charity The Fed is looking to recruit 150 new volunteers on its 150th anniversary.
Volunteer recruitment officer Dalia Kaufman told a reception at The Fed’s Heathlands Village: “Volunteers make such a huge difference to people’s lives.
“In just an hour, anyone has the ability to make a massive change in someone’s mood and situation and become a true hero.”
CEO Mark Cunningham added: “In light of the recent terrible events around the country, and especially in Manchester, our volunteers are the embodiment of goodness against atrocity — and light against dark.
“We desperately need new volunteers to help combat loneliness, improve wellbeing and meet the ever-increasing needs of our community.”
The charity has 400 volunteers across the city who offer friendship, transport and shopping support to clients.
