DAN SHAFRON believes the return of midfielder Alex Kaye will lift Raiders and keep them challenging for silverware. NLR manager Dan Shafron said: “It was great to have Alex back after nearly two years out. He adds a lot of tenacity in the middle of the pitch and will be an influential player moving forward. Dons boss Brandon Hamme remarked: “The scoreline doesn’t tell the full story.”

MGBSFL PREMIER DIVISION

BRADY MACCABI 2 OAKWOOD A 3

DAN KRISTALL saluted Oakwood’s winning mentality after they recovered from two goals down to knock Brady off top spot. Ben Kohler and Reiss Mogilner had put Brady in the ascendency but Oakwood hit back with second-half goals from Brad Wine, Alex Lee and Leor Sidle. “It was an unbelievable comeback,” said joint-manager Kristall. “On another day we may have lost this game but we go into another break from league action on a high, having really proven our mental resolve and once again we have shown Jewish football why we are the champions.” Brady’s Joel Nathan described Oakwood as “a very good team who showed great team spirit”.

ML LIONS BLUE 0 REDBRIDGE JC A 2

REDBRIDGE MAINTAINED their perfect league record with Scott Oldstein and Aaron Goldberg firing them to their third win as they edged past the Lions to go top. Lions boss Sam Marchant said: “RJC didn’t look too threatening and didn’t have clear chances but a terribly unlucky own goal and a slip at the back cost us the game.”

DIVISION ONE OAKWOOD B 3 L’EQUIPE 3

HAYDON DAVIDSON (2) and Dan Seligman helped Oakwood B secure their first point of the season in a thrilling encounter against L’Equipe. Two-nil down with 20 minutes remaining, Rob Simons started the comeback with a stunning 20-yarder before goalkeeper Mark Glucksman saved a penalty. A superb 25-yard freekick from Andy Smith and a strike from Max Martin put L’Equipe ahead before Oakwood hit back. L’Equipe player-manager Nick Stern admitted Oakwood’s “equaliser came at a time of dominance and was probably deserved”. He added: “We left St Albans on a high, sensing an upturn in fortunes on the horizon.”

REDBRIDGE JC B 6 TEMPLE FORTUNE 2

DAN GORDON (2) ensured Redbridge B secured their second win of the season with an emphatic victory over Temple Fortune. RJC joint-manager Josh Hambling commented: “It was an excellent display, easily our strongest performance of the season, although I don’t even think we were anywhere near as good as I know we can be.”

REDBRIDGE JC C 0 FAITHFOLD A 3

CHAIM BORDON (2) maintained his excellent start to the season to take Faithfold to the top of the table. Jonny Gahan also scored as Faithfold extended their winning streak with a handsome victory over Redbridge. “We were totally dominant and moved the ball around nicely from front to back,” said Faithfold player-manager Avi Markiewicz. “We dictated the play and should really have scored more.”

SCRABBLE FC 1 NL RAIDERS B 0

RAY ABRAHAMS believes Scrabble have claimed “bragging rights” after a goal from Craig Edwards steered them past a Raiders team featuring five of their former players. Scrabble manager Ray Abrahams commented: “For 90 minutes every player battled and fought for every ball and clearly we wanted this more than they did.” NLR’s Jonny Adelman said: “It was a poor and scrappy game in which we missed a bucket load of chances.”

DIVISION TWO FAITHFOLD B 1 BAYERN MINCHA 4

DANIEL HOLDER insists Bayern Mincha are making big strides after clinching their fourth win in five league matches. Adam Herszaft (2), Akiva Fink and Alon Pinhas guided them past Faithfold for whom Dan Yoss fired a consolation. Gotch said: “It was pretty comfortable and we controlled the whole game.” Hertswood joint-manager Jacob Emanuel said: “Fair play to Jeff and his boys — they look a much better outfit than last season and you can tell why they’re one of the favourites for the title.”

NL RAIDERS C 8 BOCA JEWNIORS 3

DAVID DOMB scored four times as North London Raiders C returned to winning ways as they outclassed Boca. The in-form Alex Sherr (2), Alex Elf and Alex Goodman completed the rout.
