Where seafront and city meet

- BY NATHAN JEFFAY

CONSTRUCTION IS still going at full pelt in southern Netanya, in a decade-old neighbourhood with the sea to the west and a nature reserve to the north. When work finishes in 2019, there will be about 60 towers with around 4,500 apartments in Ir Yamim. Once life is in full swing, there will be about 18,000 residents, as well as tourists accommodated in 3,000 rooms close to the shore.

Ir Yamim is family-friendly, says Alon Toledano of YH Dimri, which is marketing new homes there. “Children can walk in the neighbourhood without crossing roads,” he says. “The neighbourhood provides all the services needed, including schools, kindergartens, parks, sports and community centre.”

The light and airy Ir Yamim Mall is considered by many locals to be one of the best in town and a new shopping centre is under construction. The mall has high-class shops alongside the high-street staples and a wide range of restaurants and cafés.

Ir Yamim Mall is also known for its activities. It runs “styling workshops” where youngsters create their own fashion items, events for toddlers, such as music and movement classes and sessions allowing kids to handle and learn about different animals. There are also Friday food fairs. YH Dimri’s Shmurat Hayam, with elegant lobby, gym, private park, pool and views of the sea and nature reserve

Buyers for new Ir Yamim homes so far have come from both Israel and overseas. “The neighbourhood has attracted families from all over the country and from all over the world and has positioned itself as one of the

most desirable and prestigious neighbourhoods in Israel,” says Toledano.

His company’s projects here include Shmurat Hayam, three highspecification apartment towers, just completed, with views of the sea and

the nearby nature reserve. Residents, who are now starting to move in, enter via an imposing lobby and enjoy a fully-equipped gym and swimming pool. Another Dimri project, still under construction, is a “boutique” building with 14 floors, where each apartment has a balcony of 25 sq m.

Close to Netanya’s northern promenade — especially popular with British tourists and expats— Africa Israel Residences is constructing Savyon City, consisting of four luxury towers.

Hold Real Estate, the selling agent, says the project “will transform the entire area and redefine life at the vibrant heart of Netanya”.

There are three- and four-bedroom apartments, all with spacious sun balconies and on the higher floors there are mini penthouses and penthouses.

Avishai Shklar of Hold says all items used in construction are high-grade, from electric shutters to wallmounted toilets. Apartments start at £515,000 and each comes with its own underground parking space and storage area.

Hold Real Estate specialises in sourcing properties and developments in areas of large potential growth in Israel, with the aim of offering investment opportunities to nonresidents.

Shklar says Savyon City, due for completion in summer 2021, aims to provide “the best of both worlds: a tranquil life by the sea, together with urban life at its best. The location of these new towers places you close to everything the city has to offer, while still enabling you to savour serenity in a spacious residential setting.”
