Kyte keeps Lions flying high

-

SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE DIVISION ONE HAREFIELD UNITED LONDON LIONS

FOOTBALL MAX Kyte marked his return from injury with two goals as London Lions secured an important away win at Harefield United.

With a familiar face returning from Aveley after a few seasons in the Isthmian League, Adam Bolle lined up at centre forward as Lions boosted their forward line, with Kyte returning for his first start of the season.

They combined to set up the opener for Kyte, who expertly chipped the Harefield goalkeeper. Kyte doubled the lead from the penalty spot, confidently firing his shot into the top corner.

Lions were not quite as fluent after the interval, and almost wrapped it up with another penalty, but this time Kyte failed to convert when on for his hat-trick.

Harefield made a late charge by pulling one back but Lions held on.

Manager Andy Landesberg said: “We were not at our best, but sometimes you have to accept that we came away with three points.”

He described the arrival of Bolle as “something that will make a difference to us as we look to keep building”. Landesberg said: “It was good to see Max back among the goals. Hopefully we can get one or two more back before long as well.”

LIONS: Dan Lipman, Ben Goldberg, Adam Harvey, Adam Lipman, Adam Myeroff, Nick Landesberg, Max Kyte, Jake Furman, Adam Bolle, Austin Lipman, Adam Buchell. Subs: Ollie Craig, Josh Shack, Sam Hamerton
