CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP RND 3 BRADY MACCABI 5 BAYERN MINCHA 1

ALON PINHAS admitted Premier Division class told as Bayern Mincha’s hopes of a cup fairy tale were ended by a dominant Brady team. Doubles from Reiss Mogilner and Charlie Kasler plus one from Graeme Grossman eased Brady through. Pinhas said: “We were up against arguably the best team in Jewish football at the moment, so we knew it would be tough. Missing some key regulars made the task much harder.” Brady’s Joel Nathan said: “Bayern are a good, young team but we didn’t really need to get out of second gear.”

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 1 OAKWOOD A 3

DAN KRISTALL described Josh Cuby as “unplayable” as Oakwood booked their place in the semi-finals. The defending league champions made a flying start through David Woolman and an own goal. Josh Goldstein reduced the deficit but a late strike from Cuby settled the tie. Oak joint-manager Dan Kristall commented: “The boys worked hard and battled as a team. We used the squad well and got the job done. We really needed a win like that. Full credit to Raiders because they came out fighting after half-time.” NLR’s Dan Shafron remarked: “Our performances are getting far better. There are plenty of signs that we can turn our season around.”

MGBSFL PREMIER DIVISION HENDON UNITED SPORTS 3 ML LIONS WHITE 3

GREG CORIN expressed “disappointment” after Hendon allowed a 3-1 lead to slip against the Lions. Yoav Kestenbaum, Zac Lewis and Avi Korman had put Hendon in charge but the Lions rallied with goals from Josh Shack (2) and Josh Weiner. Hendon player-manager Corin said: “We need to take stock of the result and the team we pulled together at the last minute. A couple of players hadn’t featured for a few years but we ML LIONS BLUE 4 CAMDEN PARK 0

SAM MARCHANT praised his players for “a performance of great control and maturity” as Lions Blue crushed Camden with strikes from Josh Bloom (2), Charlie Cohen and Liron Mannie. Marchant said: “We had a few weeks off and I knew it would be interesting to see how the boys reacted. We started well and controlled the majority of the match. We didn’t allow the opposition many chances at all.”

DIVISION ONE FAITHFOLD A 6 SCRABBLE FC 3

AVI MARKIEWICZ believes Faithfold showed “great battling qualities” after coming from 3-1 down to hit title rivals Scrabble for six. Rupert Wood (2) and Zac McLeod had put Scrabble in charge but an outstanding performance from winger David Leiwy inspired Faithfold to a thrilling comeback. Adding to his first-half header, the twinkle-toed Leiwy added two more, with player-manager Markiewicz (2) and super-sub David Kizneris sealing the win. Markiewicz said: “I am so proud of my lads. We were missing Ben Shirbini and

Louis Naughten for a really tough game and there were times where we had every reason to drop our heads, but we didn’t. We believed, kept on fighting, played some really bright football, passed the ball crisply and got the result we ultimately

David Leiwy deserved.” Scrabble boss Ray Abrahams said: “The scoreline was not a true reflection of the game. I thought for 70 minutes we played well. Faithfold had one player who created and finished everything and you can see why — with him in the side — they are where they are.”

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B 2 LOS BLANCOS 3

LOS BLANCOS showed “fantastic strength and character,” according to manager Joel Holder, as they came from 2-1 down to beat Redbridge. Paul Biller and Carl Dobrin struck for the east Londoners, but Simon Moses (2) and Oli Sade earned Blancos a crucial victory. Holder said: “The question before the game was can we do it on a rainy day in Essex and boy did we respond.”

DIVISION TWO CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI 3 FC TEAM 4

JEFF GOTCH described FC Team as “useless” after Catford came within a whisker of a remarkable comeback against their promotion rivals FC Team. Mitch Young (2), Richard Salmon and Adam Rones looked to have secured the points for FC Team, who led 4-0 after 70 minutes, but Catford finished strongly, with goals from Mitch Green (2) and Jason Shoffman giving them hope. Gotch said: “I’m disappointed as I had eight drop-outs before kick-off and only having 11 players limited our options.” Asked about FC Team’s tactics, Gotch said: “They were simple yet effective. They had a long-throw specialist and a long ball over the top. Bar that they are useless.” FC Team player-manager Mitch Young said: “Overall, we deserved the victory and I was happy with how we played. It sets us up nicely for a mustwin game next week against Mill Hill.”

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 6 REAL HENDON 3

ALEX ELF (3), Ben Kaye (2) and Liam Stein steered Raiders C into the top five as they brushed Real Hendon aside. NLR boss Sam Rose commented: “From a technical viewpoint, that was the best NLR performance I’ve seen in a yearand-a-half.” Adam Hersh, Benny Goldberg and Jordan Alex scored for Real for whom Raffi Addlestone said: “It was a disappointing loss after starting extremely brightly. Some bad individual mistakes cost us.”

STRAW HAT PIRATES 3 FAITHFOLD B 3 ELLIOT CUKIER cut a frustrated figure as the Pirates were denied victory late on against Faithfold. Aron Gale, Ben Mandell and Jono Nesbitt were the marksmen for the Pirates, with Josh Barnett and Tony Plaskow (2) accounting for the Faithfold goals. SHP boss Elliot Cukier said: “We battled hard for 90 minutes but came away with very little to show for our efforts.” Faithfold player-manager David Garson praised his players for “coming back three times in what was a very entertaining game”. Garson said: “Hopefully, we can kick on from here.”
