THE DEPUTY leader of the Green Party in Wales could face discplinary action over comparing Israel to the Nazis.
In a Facebook post Pippa Bartolotti claimed Israel wanted a “final solution” for the Palestinians and that Gaza was an “open air concentration camp.” She also described Israel as a “Western puppet state”.
Her comments were made as an apparent response to Donald Trump’s announcement that the United
States would recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. More than 1,000 people shared the post.
A Green Party spokesperson told the JC that Ms Bartolotti”s comments
Pippa Bartolotti did not represent the party’s view.” Senior figures in “the party’s disciplinary process are urgently reviewing this matter”.
A defiant Ms Bartolotti said: “Israeli settlers talk about the ‘final solution’ for the Palestinians, and it appears they do so with impunity. It is for this reason that I chose to use the words. In reality they appear not to be antisemitic after all.”
In her post she claimed Jerusalem was not a Jewish city and Israel had been created “by force in 1948, in bloodshed and massacres of the unarmed and innocent indigenous population”. She added: “The government of Israel is only interested in the final solution, i.e. a total Jewish State and the expulsion of all nonJewish inhabitants. It is towards this end that Trumps cruel decision is aimed.”
