FESTIVAL’S FACTS, FIGURES AND FUN EVENTS

Limmud Festival will take place from Sunday, December 24, to Thursday, December 28. ●

For the third year, it will take place at Pendigo Lake, near Birmingham. ●

Approximat­ely 250 participan­ts have said they are attending Limmud Festival for the first time. ●

Participan­ts (known as Limmudniks) at this year’s festival span ten decades, aged from four months to 96 years old. ●

There are festival-goers attending from 23 different countries across six continents, as well as from locations across the UK. ●

For the fifth year in a row, there will be more than 2,500 people on site over the course of the festival. ●

There will be more than 1,000 sessions by more than 600 presenters — a slight increase in the number of presenters, but a decrease in the number of sessions.

MUST-SEE SESSIONS: ●

David Bolchover (presenter): The Greatest Comeback — the story of Bela Guttman. Based on the book about the Holocaust survivor who went on to coach Benfica to European football glory during a 40year managerial career. ●

Yael Farjun: The China Perspectiv­e — starting a business in China and how being Jewish can actually help. ●

Lahav Harkov: Behind the Scenes at the Knesset – The Knesset reporter for the Jerusalem Post discusses the politician­s who are having the biggest impact on Israeli society. ●

Joshua Harmon: The playwright (Bad Jews, Significan­t Other) will be in conversati­on with Raymond Simonson, JW3 community centre chief executive, as well as hosting a “Playwritin­g 101” class. ●

Jo Johnson: Minister for Universiti­es and Science will be giving a speech, followed by a question and answer session. ●

Noam Shalit: The story of the fiveyear long campaign to free his son, Gilad Shalit, from captivity in Gaza. ●

Clive Lawton and Howard Rosen: Will Israel ever join the Commonweal­th? And why it should.
