‘Kon is a class act,’ says Corin

- BY DANNY CARO

FOOTBALL GREG Corin praised the returning Rafi Kon after Hendon took over at the top thanks to a seven-goal demolition over former leaders Brady.

Yoav Kestenbaum and Kon dominated a game in which striker Dovi Fehler secured a hat-trick as Hendon climbed above defending champions Oakwood on goal difference.

Hendon boss Corin remarked: “It was a fantastic performance. I felt we dominated throughout but Brady were still in the game at half-time. We had a good tactical chat at the break and a few minutes of excellent wing play enabled us to kill the game.” Reiss Mogilner had drawn Brady level but Hendon dominated the second half, with goals from Zac Lewis (2), Ari Last and Kon sealing the team’s sixth win in seven league matches.

Corin said: “We continued to play at a good tempo right until the last kick of the game and by the end, the result was well deserved.

“It was an off-day for Brady and I’m sure will be a very different test for us when we play the return fixture and meet them in the cup.

“It was great to have Rafi back from Israel this week. He was a great presence in midfield and then at right-back. We were delighted he managed to cap the game off with a rare goal. “A special thank you for the commitment shown by a number of players this week as we were short on numbers. It makes a huge difference to the team.”
