Prize guys have made Hertsmere happier
BUSHEY AND Radlett synagogue members were among recipients of Hertsmere’s civic awards, recognising those who have helped make the area “a safer and happier place to live and work”.
Award winner Dr Raymond Coffer of Bushey is the long-serving chair of the Warren Estate Residents’ Association.
He additionally chaired the Community Safety partnership for two years and was vice-chair of the Bushey Forum, articulating the views of the local populace. Dr Coffer also ran the Bushey Synagogue football team.
“From the minute we moved to Bushey Heath 50 years ago I have been involved with the community in some way,” he said. “There’s a vested interest as I have three grandchildren living locally and I would like them to enjoy living here.”
Lewis Osbourne was honoured principally for his work with the borough’s Citizens’ Advice Bureau, for which he is a trustee and company secretary.
“We help around 4,000 people each year with their problems and being part of a really good team at the CAB is something that fills me with great pride,” he said.
He received his award from the Mayor, Charles Goldstein, a fellow Radlett Synagogue member.
Mr Osbourne has been a shul board member “on and off” for the past 30 years and represents it at the Board of Deputies.
