Brief guide to big issues

- BY JC REPORTER

THE LONDON School of Jewish Studies has produced a mini-book on questions of faith and Jewish identity which will be available in 30 synagogues over Rosh Hashanah.

Big Questions, Brief Answers consists of 33 questions and answers on God, Torah, prayer, Israel, the environment and other contemporary issues, written by LSJS dean Rabbi Raphael Zarum and the late Maureen Kendler, a popular lecturer at the college who died in February.

The questions were put to the authors over the years “by children and adults, teachers and parents, students and retirees, teenagers and grandparents, some religious and some less so, all struggling to find meaningful answers to some of the biggest questions,” Rabbi Zarum says in the introduction.

Writing in an accessible style for young people, they found that “many adults also appreciated our straightforward and succinct responses”.
