‘Bring on Hendon,’ says Markiewicz

- BY DANNY CARO

AVI Markiewicz insists there is more to come as Faithfold A registered their first win of the season after beating Brady Maccabi 3-1 with goals from Louis Naughten (2) and Ben Shirbini. Manager Markiewicz said: “We have to be more clinical in front of goal. Hopefully, we can kick on against defending champions Hendon United on Sunday.”

Hendon came from a goal down to beat Los Camden A 2-1. Zac Lewis and an own goal eased them into joint-top spot. “It was difficult to play our passing game on an uneven pitch, but we showed good character to recover from an early goal and an injury to goalkeeper Russell Corin,” commented Hendon manager Jordan Sapler. “Los Camden deserve much credit for putting together a strong team who were hard to break down.”

Oakwood A made a winning start, with Brad Wine, Josh Cuby and Kyle Bentwood on target in the 3-1 win over Maccabi London Lions. Benji Weinberger pulled one back. Oakwood’s Dan Kristall said: “Over the course of a season, Lions field teams from a huge pool of players so they will cause problems. We know you can’t win the title in September but you can certainly lose them. We just have to stick to our task and keep winning.”

Alex Paraskeva (2) and Josh Wynne fired Redbridge A to a 3-2 win over Bayern Mincha in Division One. Adam Ellis scored both goals for Bayern. RJC’s Sam Rank believes his team showed championship quality and remarked: “We were far from our best but it was the kind of performance you need to produce if you are to challenge for the title.”

Jason Stein praised the “application and attitude” of his players after Oakwood B crushed Scrabble FC A 4-0. Louie Hibbert, Sam Modlin, Ben Feingold and Sam King registered for Oak- wood. Stein said: “We couldn’t have had a better start and now the challenge is to keep that going.”

Max Freedman (2), Daryl Rubin, James Jaconelli and Harrison Grant eased title hopefuls Fairlop FC to a 5-1 triumph over Los Camden B.

Richard Bronzite insists “the result was all that mattered” after Redbridge B edged past Mill Hill Dons 2-1. Richard Slater and Seth Walmer guided RJC to an impressive victory. Zach Cohen replied.

Benny Goldberg (3), Alex Goodman (2), Aron Luftig and Lolu Hibbert helped Faithfold B destroy Faithfold C 7-0. James Millet converted two penalties as Hertswood Vale beat Scrabble B 3-0. Zac Neiman fired a treble as SPEC FC came from behind three times to beat FC Team 5-3. Zac Neiman (3), Sam Martin and Josh Green guided SPEC FC past FC Team 5-3.
