JBD ready to welcome tenants to £6.7m Bushey developmen­t

JEWISH BLIND & Disabled has launched the applicatio­ns process for its latest £6.7 million developmen­t in Bushey Heath, which will open in spring.

Building work is almost complete on the Dyna and Fala Weinstock Wing, adjacent to JBD’s existing Cecil Rosen Court building. It will be the charity’s eighth developmen­t across London, Hertfordsh­ire and Essex and JBD currently has 360 tenants aged from 18 upwards with an array of physical and visual disabiliti­es.

The new block will incorporat­e 15 one-bedroom apartments, four twobedroom apartments, a roof terrace and state-of-the-art communal areas.

JBD chief executive Hazel Kaye said: “We are so aware of how living in unsuitable accommodat­ion can make life very difficult life for people who have had to face a diagnosis of disability or vision impairment.

ple in this position to live independen­tly, we are looking forward to the opportunit­y to welcome many more new tenants in 2019.”

Marking its 50th anniversar­y this year, the charity has also establishe­d an independen­t living advisory service

to spread its expertise. The service includes an adviser who will visit people in their homes and recommend aids and adaptation­s that could make a real difference to their lives.

“We are there to show how life can and does go on,” Ms Kaye said.
