Sizeable savings on empty property rates

-

PROPERTY OWNERS across the UK know to their cost just how galling — and financially crippling — it can be to have to pay rates on properties that lie empty. But aren’t those same people at least being supported by the business rates holiday scheme introduced by the Government as a measure to assist during the Covid-19 pandemic? The short answer is — no, they are not.

To be clear, the 12-month business rates holiday for all retail, hospitality and leisure businesses does not apply to empty properties.

According to Crusader Empty Property Rates Avoidance, a UK specialist, millions of pounds spent annually on empty property rates could stay in the pockets of the property owners. The company offers two schemes which “deliver significant and completely legal savings of up to 93 per cent”.

“Annual savings upwards of 80 per cent are very common across all types of empty properties, from shops to offices and warehouses to industrial units — and the figure can rise as high as 93 per cent,” says a senior spokesperson at Crusader.

“For anyone unfortunate enough to be sitting on an empty property, we can present solutions to avoid the payment of empty property rates. It is a complex field, but we have the expertise and experience necessary to provide owners with help, answers and savings.

There is a fortune waiting to be saved.”

Empty property rates are a massive drain on resources, particularly given the current economic climate and the on-going struggle to find tenants for empty properties. Therefore, it is imperative property owners discover just what can be done to keep the burden of empty property rates to an absolute minimum.

Weekly rates payable: £1,461 Less Crusader’s weekly fees: £262 A weekly saving of £1,169

That equates to an annual saving of £60,788 = 80 per cent.

A hugely significant saving … and it is not just retail and office properties that stand to benefit; industrial units (of all sizes) qualify too, with savings of up to 93 per cent. “So,” says Crusader, “if you are a property owner paying empty property rates... start the process and make serious and completely legal savings”.
