Activists try to storm Elbit’s London office

- BY LEE HARPIN

POLICE HAVE launched an investigation after a group of activists connected to the Palestine Action group attempted to enter the offices of an Israeli company in central London and then daubed slogans inside and outside the building before leaving.

At least four activists attempted to storm the London headquarters of Elbit — an Israeli defence and security manufacturer — last Friday. They filmed themselves attempting to barge past security guards to reach the firm’s offices on the sixth floor of the building.

Footage uploaded to a left-wing website showed the group of activists, which included three women, entering the building in Kingsway and screaming slogans such as “Your profits are covered in Palestinian blood.”

One of the women attempted to get into a lift, but was escorted out of the building — but not before she had got out a spray can and begun to graffiti the reception area.

She shouted: “You support terrorism, you support violence” as she left the office. Other activists attempted to walk upstairs but were eventually removed from the premises.

A report on the alt-left Real Media website, which backed the action, stated: “Before being ejected from the building, the activists spilt blood red paint and sprayed slogans in the reception area.”

A spokesperson for Camden Council confirmed that the police were now investigating the incident and allegations of vandalism.

The spokesperson said: “We were aware of the graffiti at this location, which we classified as offensive, and worked with the building owner to remove it as quickly and effectively as possible.”

Elbit — which has offices in the UK, South America and Asia — has long been targeted by pro-Palestinian protesters.

The company website states: “We are an international high technology company engaged in a wide range of programmes throughout the world, primarily in the defence and homeland security arenas.”

The JC contacted the Metropolitan Police for comment.
