Quitting JFS to head Menorah

-

JFS DEPUTY head Simon Appleman will be the new head of Menorah Grammar School, taking charge at the beginning of the next academic year.

Menorah governors said there had been a strong field of candidates but Mr Appleman had impressed with his experience in leadership and building excellence in teaching.

Governors’ co-chairs Doniel Goldberg and Yonason Perl were “truly excited” by the appointment. Mr Appleman had “a remarkable track record of excellence in education and is the perfect person to build further on what has been achieved to date”, they said.

For his part, Mr Appleman recognised the “immense potential” of the school while thanking JFS “for the opportunities afforded to me over the last 19 years”.

Wishing him well, JFS head Rachel Fink said he had been “a stalwart of JFS over many years, especially during his period as acting headteacher. His unwavering commitment has impacted on thousands of students and colleagues.”

KISHARON HAS announced the appointment of experienced special needs educator Dr Emily Haddock as head of its school, starting next month.

The charity said that Dr Haddock “has consistently demonstrated a rapid and lasting impact on the schools she has been associated with, including setting up a new special free school which was graded ‘good’ in its first Ofsted. She has also been the executive headteacher of two residential Send schools where she improved the Ofsted rating to ‘outstanding’.

Dr Haddock said: “I can’t wait to join Kisharon and get to know the young people, staff and families. I am looking forward to sharing in the successes and the exciting plans we have for the future.” Chair of trustees Emma Castleton believed the new head would lead the school “on its continued journey to realising our dream of being a beacon in the community”.

To ensure a smooth handover, Dr Haddock will work with interim head Sharon Mullish until the end of the academic year. From September, a key focus will be on the strength of the Kodesh curriculum.
