Northern partners cashing in

- BY JC REPORTER

V MACCABI, THE Fed and the Nicky Alliance Day Centre in Manchester have received £13,000 from a Bury Council fund to combat loneliness to promote well-being across the community.

The money will support a range of projects, among them The Fed’s Walk and Talk group, established during the pandemic to allow people to socialise outdoors, as well as its twice weekly mums and tots’ group and monthly “coffee Stops” for the older and isolated.

Maccabi’s outdoor exercise class and meditation sessions are also being supported, as are activities for the elderly at Nicky Alliance.

The Fed’s Lucy Edwards said it had been instructive to work on the bid with the other charities.

“We’ve learned even more about each other and can offer a wider spectrum of support for the community than would be possible individually.

“A key element of The Fed’s organisational strategy is to actively seek opportunities to work in close partnership with other communal organisations.

“Such collaboration results in optimal use of valuable community resources, cuts waste and duplication and encourages the sharing of ideas and good practice.

“Our community members are the beneficiaries of this joined-up approach.”

Manchester Jewish Representative Council chair Mark Adlestone envisioned “working with all organisations across our diverse community to ensure this collaborative approach is replicated elsewhere so we do not waste valuable resources”.
