Maccabi London Brady move to the top

Maccabi London Brady moved top of the Maccabi Masters Football League on goal difference, thanks to a thumping 14-0 win over Marshside. Tim Levene, Kevin Lotzof and Laurence Beck all helped themselves to hat-tricks, Paul Shamplina and Ashley Davidson chipped in with two apiece, with Steven Moss’ effort completing the rout.

Maccabi London Lions remain tied with them at the top on 22 points, though they were made to fight for their victory, edging out Temple Fortune 3-2. Goals from Mark Kingston, Darren Dryer and Pete Lazard saw them to the points, with Marc Linch and Alan Harounoff replying for Fortune.

The third game of the day saw Glenthorne consolidat­e third spot in the table, thanks to a convincing 4-0 win over St John’s Wood Tigers. Gary Adams bagged a brace, with Amir Nathan and Jason Rich also on target.

In the Manchester Jewish Soccer League, Haroldeans moved a step closer to securing the league title by inflicting an emphatic 9-1 defeat over their nearest challenger­s Maccabi Maccabi 3rd.

Broughton Park Rangers became the first team to secure their place in the final of the Tony Cohen Cup after turning around a 1-0 half-time deficit to beat Reich 5-3.

There was another full programme in the Maccabi GB Junior Football League, with matches played at both of the League’s venues, all of which produced a high standard of football despite the adverse weather conditions. The League are currently planning their cup competitio­ns, which will be played across all age groups, full details of which will be announced shortly.
