Retirement is a delicious prospect

Eating well in later life has taken a leap forward, with Elysian Residences’s launch of Benjamin’s, an à la carte restaurant and bar at the Landsby, its “urban retirement village” in London’s Stanmore. Benjamin’s also provides VIP events catering and delivery for homeowners.

The Landsby apartments have five-star hotel amenities and service, with additional healthcare and support available on a flexible basis if needed.

There are 101 one-and two-bedroom private apartments including ten penthouses, in leafy surroundings. The Benjamin’s Restaurant, seating 55, offers an à la carte menu tailored to the tastes and requests of homeowners at the Landsby.

Next to the main restaurant is Benjamin’s Private Dining Room, able to seat ten with social distancing. This leads into Benjamin’s Bar, which has its own menu.

Homeowners and their guests can also hire the private function room seating 40, while the main library, with double-height ceiling, can be converted for dinners of up to 40 with space for a stage and live entertainment. (These spaces will be available and used according to any guidelines or legislation in place.)

Served by waiters in uniforms specially customised for the Landsby, homeowners and their guests have a choice of five menus — the à la carte, the Benjamin’s Bar, the afternoon tea, the special Sunday menu and the VIP events menu.

In addition, with 24 hours’ notice, homeowners can order personalised menus including kosher, vegan, vegetarian, haute cuisine, Buddhist, special diet and allergy sensitive food; birthday cakes and desserts.

The à la carte menu is complemented by champagnes, fine wines, spirits and soft drinks.

Head chef at the Landsby is awardwinning Avadhoot Kamat.

Also supporting the residents’ wellbeing, the Landsby runs a full programme of social events which include coffee mornings, afternoon teas and gala lunches and dinners with entertainers — previous entertainment has included music from the West End musical, Jersey Boys; an opera singer and a Great Gatsby themed gala dinner (all maintaining social distancing and health safeguarding).

Other lifestyle/wellbeing facilities at the Landsby include the library, curated by Foyles, a community events space, a cards room, a beauty salon and treatment room area, and a rooftop gym, Prime Fit. Zumba classes are among the fitness activities on offer.

A limited number of apartments is still available to purchase at the Landsby. Prices start from £480,000 for a onebedroom, £695,000 for a two-bedroom and £1,210,000 for a penthouse apartment (other fees also apply). All apartments provide private outdoor space.
