Lions’ 4-2 win sees them edge ahead in Masters

MACCABI LONDON Lions moved top of the Maccabi Masters Football League on goal difference with a 4-2 win over Maccabi London Brady. Gideon Barnett helped himself to two goals, with Bradley Lazarus and Jonny Caplan also on target. Gavin Sherman and Tim Levene replied for Brady.

Temple Fortune sit level with Lions on points after they continued their 100 per cent winning start to the season, Gil Ashkenazy’s double seeing them to a 2-0 win over St John’s Wood Tigers.

Elsewhere, EHRS claimed their first win of the season thanks to an emphatic 9-2 win over Marshside. Marc Morris scored four of the goals — including two from the penalty spot, Adam Kern chipped in with two, with Ian Sassoon, Martin Seifert and Phil Mayer also on target. Elad Farkash and Dan Forman’s penalty proved scant consolatio­n for Marshside.

Maccabi Manchester 3rds played their first game of the season in the Manchester Jewish Soccer League and although they found themselves level at the break with Reich, a superb second-half showing from the hosts saw them end up winning 8-3.
