Salmon on a roll thanks to Bleetman’s late strike

-

A DRAMATIC 96th-minute winner from Alex Bleetman saw Stoke Salmon maintain top spot in Division One of the Maccabi GB Southern Football League.

Up against NWL Azzuri, they fell behind early in the second half only for Bleetman to draw the sides level shortly after, before striking again right at the death to ensure his side kept up their 100 per cent winning start to the season.

Coach Nathan Schindler said: “It was a well-deserved win with our dominance paying off in the late stages of the game. We’ve got bigger games to come so it’s important to keep the winning momentum going.”

Borussia Jewdinese join them on 12 points following a thrilling 5-3 win over Temple Fortune A. Two goals from Reiss Mogilner, along with Brad Dryer’s strike helping them on their way to victory.

FC East London Bees spurned the chance to close in on the top sides. Mitchell Gold’s strike could only help them to a 1-1 draw against Hampstead Ducks.

Straw Hat Pirates moved up to fifth spot thanks to an emphatic 6-0 win at Scrabble — Max Gourgey, Eli Leader, Sam Leader, Mark Pearce, Lawrence Rosenberg and Bedros Ioannou all scoring. Mill Hill Dons also hit six, beating Brook Farm Rovers 6-4, for whom Adam Ellis, Aaron Benjamin, Adam Goldberg and Dan Cohen all got on the scoresheet.

Hendon United stormed to the top of the Premier Division thanks to an emphatic 9-2 win over Faithfold White. Yehuda Korman and Moses Seitler scored two each, with Gav Lewis, Rocky Spitzer, Josh Harris, Dovi Fehler and an own goal completing the rout. Manager David Garbacz said: “This was vintage Hendon. We had players missing but you’d never have known it as everyone played as if they had a point to prove. We’ve made a great start to the season and we fully intend to keep it going.”

Chigwell claimed their first league win of the season — denying HMH the chance to go joint-top by inflicting a 5-1 defeat on them. Nathan Sollosi scored twice, with Nathan Kashket and Daniel Bowman also on target. Reigning champions Oakwood kept up their 100 per cent losing start to the season, this time suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Maccabi London FC. Adam Kohler struck in the last minute to clinch the win, after Josh Bloom had equalised on his Lions debut. Maccabi London manager Laurence Judah said: “They had the majority of the possession, but we did well to stay in the game, equalise and then steal the win at the death.”

Geez Park Rangers made it four wins from four to stay three points clear at the top of Division Two with a 9-0 defeat of Boca Chillers.

Mikey Perkins scored four times, with Josh Shack, Ethan Mooney, Joe Gayle, Adam Bowman and Ethan Kessel also finding the net. Manager Ben Leslie said: “It was our best performance of the season by a mile, if we play like that we fear nobody across all three divisions.”

Real Madreidel also maintained their perfect winning start to the season with Joel Walters, Daniel Rinkoff and Nathan Davis scoring in a 3-2 win at London Athletico. Manger Danny Elia said: “As always, we dug deep and won in injury time after conceding an equaliser with five minutes to go.”

Redbridge Jewish Care White are up to third spot after they beat Hapoel Hampstead 3-1, while Temple Fortune B moved six places up the table thanks to a 3-1 victory over Brady Football Club, Benji Gourgey, Greg Ilsen and an own goal seeing them to the points.

Camden City and Millbrook Park Calcio played out a 1-1 draw, but result of the day was arguably Qarabagel’s, who claimed their first ever win in the league by defeating Oakwood 5-4.

Josh Cohen’s injury time penalty sealed a famous win, with Alex Landau, Joe Samuelson, Jono Myers and Henry Lewis also getting on the scoresheet, Manager Ollie Reback said: “From back to front, all the boys were sensational today with lots of committed tackles, running, and blocks flying in.”
