Stars of Northwood
NORTHWOOD IS an affluent suburb of north west London, close to the border of Hertfordshire, offering extensive green spaces, a laid-back lifestyle and swift connections into central London. Its wide leafy roads are surrounded by open countryside and woodlands, bordering the Chilterns area of outstanding natural beauty.
Families and young professionals are attracted to the area and many retirees choose to stay on when they downsize, having grown strong roots over the years.
The area has a close community village feel, as well as a good choice of shopping, leisure and entertainment options, whether you’re seeking stylish shopping and eating out, a challenging round of golf, a woodland bike ride or a relaxing countryside walk, perhaps on Ruislip Woods or Batchworth Common. Another popular walking spot is Oxhey Woods, a local nature reserve of 100 hectares, with several nature trails.
The area also has its own synagogue — Northwood and Pinner Liberal.
Northwood’s town centre has a Waitrose supermarket and a range of restaurants. The David Lloyd Health Club offers a gym, spa and pool, while the grand surroundings of Moor Park are home to one of the area’s destination golf courses and tennis clubs.
All this within just half an hour of Baker Street Station. The area is well connected by public transport. Northwood, Northwood Hills and Moor Park stations are all served by the Metropolitan Line. Buses run to Ruislip, Harrow, Uxbridge, Denham, Northolt, Greenford and Ealing and into Hertfordshire, including Watford.
Education is high on the agenda and a key factor in Northwood’s popularity. Independent schools in the area include St Helen’s, Northwood College and Merchant Taylors. The specialist RNIB Sunshine House School is also in Northwood.
A short journey from Northwood, The Grove hotel, spa and golf club offers a luxurious day out. Alternatively, for a breath of fresh air, you can explore the surrounding area’s picturesque canal side and country walks.
A little further afield, world class entertainment can be found at the Warner Bros Studio Tour, or take the tube to Wembley Park for Wembley Stadium, Boxpark and SSE Arena.
While there are some early Victorian period properties on many of the treelined residential roads, most homes in Northwood date from the late 1920s onwards. New-build high-specification luxury apartments and houses are in limited supply, both selling and being rented as soon as they are listed.
The new-build developments are generally designed to blend with the environment of Northwood, the reason so many have stayed in the area for generations. From luxurious large houses for growing families, to firsttime buyer homes, investor properties and downsizing apartments, all are in keeping with the area.
One of the longstanding businesses in Northwood, established for more than 18 years, is Micasa, a national award winning interior design, architecture and property development group, known in and around north west London for its luxury interior design and residential developments. Its double-fronted high street showroom is one of the first things one sees coming into Northwood.
In recent years Micasa has also ventured into building statement houses in Northwood, Moor Park and further afield, catering for the rising demand for high-quality homes in line with the affordable luxury ethos for which Micasa is known. Launching on November 18 is Asteria Place, named after the Greek goddess Asteria (of the stars), a new homes development brought to you by Micasa. It stands amid picturesque woodlands in one of Northwood’s most highly soughtafter locations.
Asteria Place is a collection of 40 one- and two-bedroom contemporary apartments and penthouses, within a gated development that includes underground parking and access to its own private gardens. It is perfectly situated for everything Northwood has to offer.
The watchwords for the new-build apartments at Asteria Place are “luxury, lifestyle and leisure”. Each of the three lodges, Sereno, Carena and Athello, comprises generously sized one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as penthouses, with designer Italian kitchens, high-spec bathrooms and statement finishes.
The secure gated underground parking has provision for EV charging stations for electric cars, and secure personal lockers. Every apartment comes with at least one parking space and many have two.
Leisure too, is at the heart of the Asteria Place design ethos: within the gated walls, Asteria Place includes extensive garden space for relaxing, socialising, walks, strolls, small picnics, family gatherings and outdoor dining, providing a safe private space to unwind outdoors.
With all this in mind, Asteria Place will appeal to a wide range of purchasers, including first-time buyers, couples, families, upward movers, downsizers, retirees and investors. Unsurprisingly, therefore, the homes are already in high-demand.
Attendance at the off-plan launch on Thursday, November 18 is by appointment only. The buying process at Asteria Place is powered by proptech company Unlatch, whose centralised platform accelerates the new homes’ sales progression process and keeps everyone informed and up to date, from reservation through to completion.
Charlie Mehta, founder of Micasa Group, says: “Creating the perfect home is all about hard work and inspiration. Our expertise has grown from real-world experiences, and our unique team of qualified chartered architects, interior architecture and interior designers and other talented professionals all come together to work hand-in-hand to create beautiful properties in and around London, making clients’ dreams a reality. This integrated approach allows us to distinguish both Asteria Place and ourselves from our contemporaries. We are proud to have won several accolades at the International Property Awards.”
